Henry – Walnut & White Velvet Baroque Revival

This courtly, over-the-top Baroque Revival ‘throne’ commands attention at the dinner table (or anywhere else in the house).  Circa 1880 and standing a full five feet tall, Henry is fit for a king. The scalloped top edge originates from the shape of men’s wigs of the 17th century, and the wealthy elite of the Roaring Twenties enjoyed an exaggerated and stately version of the style as shown here.  The high back is canted to an agreeable and comfortable angle, and the substantial scrolled arms slope gently downward for easy resting.  The piece is refinished in a rich dark walnut and newly upholstered in a textural white velvet.  Take care who sits in this chair, it may go to their head.
